Literacy
Literacy is the key to success in the outside world as it enables students to gain information, make connections, expand their thinking and advance their communication skills. Our goal at Lopez Elementary is for all children to become confident fluent readers, writers and speakers. To this end, through our WIN time (our Intervention and Enrichment Block) each day, I will target skills to fill in learning gaps for students needing reinforcement in reading. I will also help plan enrichment activities with classroom teachers for students needing advancement in the area of literacy.
You are an important partner in your child's literacy development. Setting aside time each day to listen to your child read aloud, regular visits to the library, family discussions on connections to text, and reading aloud to your child are important activities that increase reading development at all levels. Please contact me at [email protected] if you need reading recommendations or with questions about how you can help your child become a more confident reader.
